Corberán: “It’s time to compete and to give our all”
The coach looks ahead to the game against Deportivo Alavés
Carlos Soler spoke after Valencia CF's away defeat at the hands of Elche CF to analyse the performance, highlighting an improvement in the second half that indicates a path to follow in future games.
"We've practiced things during the week. We lacked intensity in the first half," said the midfielder. "There's nothing that I can take away from that. With two chances, they scored two goals. That's very tough."
"Teams are going ahead almost without deserving it. I want to take away the effort the team put in during the second half. We have to come out for games like we did in the second half."
Asked what Javi Gracia told the players in the halftime break, Soler said: "Basically, he said that they were winning the second balls, and that we had to be more intense with our pressing and go after those second balls."
"I'm the first to be self-critical. We have to change for our next game, at home to Getafe. We wanted to win this one, but I don't think the alarm bells should be going off now. We have to go steadily, but starting from now. The schedule coming up is very difficult, and we need to try to change and play like we did in the second half."
